International comparisons

International data on the proportion of young people who smoke daily is presented below. 

It shows that the smoking rate among young people in New Zealand (25.7 percent) is slightly lower than the average rate of the 23 countries surveyed (26.6 percent).

Note that the New Zealand prevalence figure of 25.7 percent shown below is slightly lower than the figures given in the data above, which includes both daily and non-daily smokers.
