Mental health disorder
Sex differences
Among young people aged 16 to 24, anxiety and mood disorders are more common among females than males.
For mood disorders, this difference was statistically significant: 15.4 percent of young women experienced a mood disorder in the previous twelve months, compared to 9.1 percent of young men. Young men aged 16 to 24 are more likely than women to have a substance disorder (12.8 percent of young men compared to 6.0 percent of young women).
Experience of more than one mental disorder in the past twelve months was equally common among young men and women.
