Age differences

In 2006, young people aged 12 to 24 were slightly more likely than those ages 12 years and under to have an internet connection in the home, and considerably more likely than those ages 65 years plus. 

They were very slightly less likely to have an internet connection at home than those aged 25 to 44 and 45 to 64.

Within the 12 to 24 population, the probability of having an internet connection in the home decreases slightly with age. 

This is likely to reflect changes in young people’s living arrangements as they shift from living with a parent or caregiver into more independent living arrangements.
