Age differences
At the time of the 2006 Census, young people aged 15 to 24 were less likely to have engaged in formal voluntary work in the previous four weeks than all other age groups, except those aged 85 years and over.
In 2006, 22 percent of older people aged 65 to 74 engaged in this form of volunteering, compared to 9.7 percent of young people aged 15 to 24.
